The Netduino 2 is hardware compatible, but definitely not software compatible. Using the .NET Micro Framework, the Visual Studio development environment currently limits it to use under Windows. When the Mono environment becomes a reality it may be possible to develop under other operating systems. The .NET Micro Framework and the Netduino 2 firmware are open source.
With a 120MHz STmicro ARM Cortex-M3 this thing is really fast for an Arduino. The Cortex I/O runs 3.3V, but the digital I/O is 5V tolerant. The total flash on the device is 768kB, 192kB of which is available for user program storage. It also has 128kB of SRAM, of which 60kB is available to the user. Pretty impressive.
